Time for me to change my spark plugs. Right now I have NGKs, and they seem to run alright, but I'm curious about upgrading to platinum plugs.
I've heard people say not to use platinum plugs if the car didn't run platinum from the factory, and I've heard that it can really help give some extra pull.

So I'm looking for opinions here. Any input is great, but I'm specifically wondering if platinum plugs will hurt my engine/ and if they will give me any extra HP / are they worth the money....

So I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice if all the different torque specs were arranged into one place?

Hey all.
I finally bought a torque wrench, and now I want to do a valve adjustment on my D16Y7. I've heard some valve noise, and from what I understand, it's generally a good idea to adjust the valves every 100,000 miles or so.

So I just want to make sure that I have down the right steps. If I have anything wrong here, please correct me.

1: Remove spark plugs
2: Remove valve cover
3: Take off drivers side front wheel
4: Turn crank manually (I think it's a 19mm bolt)
5: Get #1 to TDC.
6: Use feeler gauge to adjust valves correctly: .007 for intake and .009 for exhaust.
7: Torque bolt holding valve screw to 11lbs.
8: Move onto next cylinder according to firing order.
9: Replace valve cover
10: Replace spark plugs.

Just remembered I had a few questions: How do I get a cylinder to TDC? And does anyone know the firing order on a D16Y7? (I think it's 1-4-3-2)

My left rear rotor is worn uneven. There is 3/4 inch of rust on the outer radius because the pad is not contacting. I think the caliper is bad. I just replaced the rotors and pads within the last year also. Wanna fix this before my pad and rotor goes too far gone. Is there anything difficult about replacing a rear caliper on disk brakes? Should just be remove and replace then bleed right?

Does anybody know about a knowledgeable Honda Specialist mechanic in the Burbank/Sun Valley area that will not rip me off? My timing belt is due and I've gotten all the parts needed for the service.

I want to make sure that the mechanic is familiar with B16A2 engines because the last mechanic I got to work on my engine/tranny, he did not know anything about B16A2 and jacked up my tranny.

I want to replace the stock stereo in my 2005 Acura EL (Canadian only vehicle) which is very similar to the Honda Civic 2005.

I was told that my keyless entry system is connected to the stock stereo somehow and if I replace it, the keyless entry will stop working. Is that true for the 2005 year model line? I am not sure if the 2005 Civic and 2005 EL are any different in this aspect.

Before I remove all the panels and take everything apart I need to know if this stereo upgrade will affect the keyless entry. Perhaps I have to buy a special wiring harness? Please help.

Ok ran into this problem for the past couple weeks.

For some reason I've been having problems starting my 93 Civic Si. Car has 235,000 miles, replaced the Main Relay back in 2007 with a new one.
Sometimes my car will start fine, other times the clock will quickly come on and everything dies. When she does restart the clock is reset and my radio too.
I took the car to Sears (where I got the battery in 2008) and they did a test on everything and nothing wrong.

I just noticed last night that when I turned my high beams on the stereo and headlights would flicker for a 1/2 second. Literally was so quick I would have thought it was just a bump in the road.

Last night I left the trickle charge on and it started fine. Got off work after 6 hours and the car wouldn't start. Turned it off, tried again nothing. Turned off and then she fired up, but clock and radio reset. Got my hair cut (took about 10 mins) and she started right up.

One more thing I noticed turning on my headlights as it has gotten cold the dash lights take 30-60 seconds to turn on, and the clock doesn't dim for the same amount.

What do you guys think it could be? Headlight switch? Ignition? Something else?

will a d16y8 oil pan swap right on to a d16y5 block? i did some quick searching and some say yay, some say nay. I cut a huge gash into my oil pan and the car has just been sitting waiting for the turbo kit to come in, and a guy offered to give me a free tapped oil pan off a y8, but i heard there's some differences in them. something to do with the oil pump?

Have any of you had your input bearing go "ka-boom"? (not literally)

I know mine is worn, is has been noisy for two years now but after my brother in law got stranded on the interstate with another transmission issue it got me thinking - how much longer do I have?

Its a 97 HX with 238K on it...I did the clutch 2 years ago, thought it was just the t/o bearing (clutch needed done anyway), didn't do my research, and here I am still with this other bearing noise, only to find out its the input bearing after everything was pulled, but still driving the heck out of this little car, hoping to get 300K out of it.

1.Where does the shock go and the brain should go?
2. What do you think the brown wire suppose to be?
3.What about the pinkish wire?
4.Does anyone have a wire diagram or pictures to install the Aftermarket alarm system?

So I recently replaced my radiator and thermostat on my 95 Civic Dx and noted that it sucks through coolant. There are no signs of leakage anywhere. It goes through about a coolant tank (that white tank on the radiator) in about a month of city driving. Any ideas?

How can I make my my Civic's B16A2 eninge block look cleaner? I've used degreasers and noticed that the metal stays a little dirty? I''ve seen some engine blocks look very clean.

Can I use paint? what kind can I use? Has anybody painted their block?
