I am new to Honda B-Series Engines. What would be the most cost effective engine to swap into a 95 Civic? I am looking for a good engine to build up, and against paying more for stock parts which are to be replaced with better aftermarket ones (e.g. ITR). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A few specific questions:

Which motor has the highest potential (cost effectiveness and performance) in a 92-95 civic? If it is a b18 series then:

For the price difference, could a GS-R motor be built up to surpass the Type-R motor?

If you're going to get after market parts (I would assume you're talking pistons, rods, cams, etc.), any of the b18 blocks would be a good starting point. Have it sleeved and put in some nice oversized forged pistons.

What it really comes down to is how much you want to spend. What are your plans for the car? Will it be a daily driver that you want to add some extra get up and go or will it be an all out race car? If you provide more details, you'll most likely get better answers/recommendations/suggestions.

b18b all the way u can work the piss outta em and have nice torque stock pm me i have a list of parts to build up a b18b to run 13s all motor

you might also want to look into the H-series engines if you want to make it a race-type car (tho it may be a B**** to manuver)

and i think that the b18's in the gsr and tpe-r are almost identical, except for the higher compression ratio. so all you have to do is put new pistons in and you're set for that

they are not identical. the b18c5 has a b16 head with mild p&p and different internals.
