    ac on the 7th gen

does anyone know how/ or can find out how to turn your ac off when the defrost is on......imean thats the most annoying thing in the world to me.. knowing my car is wasting energy cuz the honda engineers decided we should have to turn the ac on to use the defrost..

They did that for a reason you know. The AC isn't just used to make your car really cold, the condenser dries the air by taking the moisture out which help defrost your windows alot faster. You would probably be using more energy leaving the defroster on for the longer time it would take without the AC on.

im sure they did do it for a reason..they know alot more than i do but at the same time it kills more gas riding long ways with the ac on...my old civic wasnt noticably slower at defrosting...

When you turn your defrost on, I think you should be able to just press the A/C button and it will turn A/C off. I know it's not a permanent solution but should help out in the meantime....this works on my 2000 Accord.

mine too, it goes off when you press the button, but like smakdown was saying, with the a/c on while you defrost it defrosts a lot faster, and if you turn the a/c on when your windows get fogged on the inside it clears them up right away, heat has the opposite effect.

    1) Have the car turned off.

    2) Turn vent knob to off (All the way to the
    left, counter clock wise).

    3) Turn temperature knob to full blue (All the
way to the left, counter clock-wise).

    5) Start car and keep both air recirculation button
and A/C button depressed for 7 seconds.

    6) Wait for air recirculation button to stop
    flashing.
