DIY: How to build a HID wiring Harness

Ok guys i decided once again im due for another write up :P so im preparing for my HID retrofit. here is a how to build a harness. when the parts come in i will have a How to retrofit into a stock eg housing.

this harness is just a template on a How-to. other harness will look better with mutlicolor wiring. heat shrink, solder and heat shrink connectors(expensive connectors).

Tools that are needed

Step 1

Take 1 of the Inline Fuses and place a Butt Connector On one end and crimp it. Then place the ring terminal on the other end and crimp that as well.

Step 2

I used 4 1/2 feet of 12 gauge of wire and Connected it to the Butt Connector off of the Inline Fuse. This may seem a bit too much but I hide a lot of the wires in my engine bay so this helps. at the other end of the wire place a Female Spade Connector on it.

Step 3

Now take the Spade Connector and place it on PIN 30 on the Relay

Step 4

Take a 1 - 1 1/2 foot piece of 12 gauge wire. On one end of the wire place a Female Spade Connector on it. On the other end place a 10/8 gauge Butt connector.

Step 5

Cut 2 Pieces of wire. 1 piece 1-2 ft long.. the other piece 4-5 ft. take those 2 pieces and twist the ends together and put them in the 10/8 gauge Butt connector.

Step 6

The 2 wires from step 5 and cut them after 6 inches. Now take a Inline fuse and put a butt connector on each end and connect them to the wires you just cut. These are the 15 Amp Inline Fuses

Step 7

Take the spade connector from the harness in step 6 and put it into PIN 87 on the relay

Step 8

Take a 1-2 ft piece of Black or brown 12 gauge wire. Place a Ring Terminal at one End and Place a Spade Connector at the other end

Step 9

Take the Spade Connector from step 8 and place it on PIN 85 on the Relay

Step 10.

Now i cut this wire long cause im running it into my interior. I cut 8 1/2 feet of 12 gauge wire. Place a Female Spade Connector on one end of the wire. Now go 9 inches down from the spade connector and Cut it. Now take a piece of Heat shrink and slide it over the long end of the wire.

Step 11

Get out your Soldering Iron and Solder. Get out your Diode 1N4001. Now solder the Diode Between the wires that you just cut. once you have them soldered slide the Heat shrink over the diode and use your torch or heat gun and seal up the diode.

Step 12

Now put the Diode harness Spade Connector into pin 86 in the Relay... The very middle Pin 87a is not used so just ignore it.

YOUR DONE!!!! Now Go have a beer

Where all the plugs go on the harness

YOUR DONE!!!!
