rust repair

i just got a 81 fiat 2000 spyder for free but the driver and passanger floorboards are rusted form getting water there and it sitting anyone ever done rust repair any tips i have accses to a welder and every type of rivet gun imaginable and someone to help me do either but any advice or a how to would be great

hmm the cheapest way to do that from my friends experience is to do it in a ghetto style.. like wipe the rust out, then use a sheet metal and weld it on the area that has no holes... (still strong metal, not rusted) then put a few more layers of sheet metal, and use the carpets to cover it up so no one will know.

if all else fails...go to a local small body shop near you and ask their advice. They'll be more likely to give free advice. Some of those corporate or dealership body shops might be hesitant to give free advice...since they'd rather do the work and get paid. But most little body shops will give you the advice no problem, guaranteed.

cut out the entire are and weld in a new piece that fits in the location that you cut out its the best way to do it you dont want to keep having to fix it over and over so do it right the 1st time. I did it in my dads 64 impalla
