I have a shed that is empty that I will be using as my paint booth, that is where i do all my work on my car. I have had experience with an air gun also. Just kind of worried on doing the whole car in one whole piece.

I already have a paint gun and a 60 gallon air compressor. Plus the paint booth that would be my shed...anything else? I have an idea on how to do this already...any techniques anyone would recommend?

you should(if possible) spray down the shed with water before rolling the car in. that way all the dust will get caught and collected and settle.

I know im new but i know what to do

To turn yourshed into a paint booth you will need lots of clear plastic drape that you can buy at a reputable hardware store like lowes or home depot then mist the walls with water then cover all of them with the plastic drape use lots of duct tape to seal where one piece meets the other, make sure u use a gravity fed air spray gun when painting make sure u do even coats and dont forget the top coat if your doing it yourself cough up some more cash for the materials and spray it like 10 times with top coat and if u wet sand it right your car will be the hottest in your city/town.

Hope i helped Jimmy

Yeah like JDM said, make sure you have a gravity fed paint gun, not one of those old style ones....

Are you doing a color change? i just did a color change on a 94 civic from teal to silver w/blue pearl-was a pain in the ass! If you do plan on doing a color change just make sure you scuff and wax & grease remove every square cm of the car cuz a very small area of paint peel can turn into a disaster over time showing the old color underneath and a waste of time...trust me it happened to me. You are better off basecoating it the same color, or even adding a little pearl to the base or clear. I would not recommend a color change...unless you really know what your getting yourself into. If metallic color, I recommend practing on test fenders first because you gotta move like a robot when painting metallics or pearls. Also, use a decent gun and don't use cheap paint-especially Omni. I recommend using PPG or even DuPont, it maybe more expensive but trust me its worth it. Plan on having the car tied up for at least 2 weeks, this is a very big job. If you have any other questions let me know. Good luck.

Just pay to have it done. Trust me it's not worth the hassle if you don't know exactly what you're doing. Either way you'll end up having to pay later to have a professional completely redo it after you completely destroy the car's finish.

Do the prep yourself and have someone with a paint booth spray it. It's not worth the headache of doing it twice. You should be able to save quite a bit of money doing the prep yourself and reassembly yourself.

this should help some. Gravity fed sprayers are the best, but more expensive. I don't know what kind of money you have to spend. Your best bet is to buy your own materials and ask a body shop if you can rent they're booth. My dad owns a body shop (hence where I work), and when we're slow he'll let people rent the booth to do they're DIY projects. I'm not saying all body shops will do this, but some small (yet well equipped) body shops might. That'll help with the dust/dirt problem in your paint. Also, make sure you clean your Spray gun thoroughly (number 2 reason dirt gets on paint). If you want or need any other advice, PM me or something.
