trying to get old hg off

Does any one have any tips on easy ways to get old head gasket material off? I spent an hour or so with a razor and got less then half of it down to metal. At that point I figured I'm doing somethig wrong and should see if there was an easier way.
Thanks.

using a razor blade isn't always the best way to do it because metal to metal surface can damage your head with all those knicks but just try not to do so you can use a scraper but be careful

Get an angle die grinder with an aluminum sander disc.
