Quality of Haynes manuals

I've got a Haynes manual for my car ('95 Integra LS), and I just wanted to know if anyone else uses them. Are they reliable, or do they tend be vague or contain mistakes?

From my experience yes. Have the Chilton versions for both vehicles on order.

The Haynes for the 98 civic is the same one for the crv and the integra if I remember correctly, so very vague.

They are alright (have one for both my hondas) and are good for general maintenance. But, if you have a printer, just print the pages of the Helms for your integra that you can find online. Chilton's is a better choice.

The reason i do not like the haynes, is for some reason, i learn better through pictures/diagrams. Helms and Chilton go WAAAAAAAAAAAY more indepth...

hope that helps

BTW: chilton is roughly the same price as haynes, so get the chilton. But the helms is $$$, and im poor. just search the web, look in the FAQs for links to online Helms guides.

I always found the Haynes to be superior to the Chilton. I never heard of Helms until I joined this board. Our public library has Alldata so I don't buy manuals anymore. However a free Helms sounds nice.

I found the manual for my 93 Civic and started to print it. Then I realized bout 300 pages later that it was a 1200+ page manual

I think the Haynes manual is good in a general sense...but you just can't rely on it alone. The how-tos in there may not be the best and easiest way to do . I suggest seeking a 2nd opinion...examples from the book I can remember are:

1)crankshaft pulley bolt removal
2)ball joint removal

Both can be done alot easier than following the book.

I never heard of Helms till I got onto this forum, and I found the Helms to be very informative.

So where could I find a Helms to buy? I was looking online and can't find an actual book. Only Haynes and Chilton's. From what I read in this thread Chilton's is good enough for the price I just want to see how much a Helms goes for for 5th Gen Civics.
