Quick cheap stock to cold air intake hack

Just waiting for my AEM CAI to come.

I was thinking I could make a hack cold air intake system with the stock intake (97 civic ex) by pulling out the intake resonator box, and chopping the U-shaped tube at the bottom so the air inlet is at the bottom of the U (which is near the bumper).

    What do you guys think?

BTW, the resonator box just seems to surround the U shaped tube... I guess it's just there to silence the noise. I'm guessing it really doesn't affect the in flow of air?

Yea it does affect the flor of the air just cause it has to make a u turn to go up to the filter. Take off the resonator, and the stock intake acts as a short ram, although I still think AEM CAI with Bypass Valve is the best way to go, unless you want an extra hp with the Icebox.

take out the resonator box all together.

    1. open up the filter box.
    2. unbolt the bottom of the filter box assembly from the frame, and remove it.
    3. put the filter up into the upper part of the box assembly that is still attatched to the intake hose.
    4. hold the filter in place with wire/string/bungie (make sure it's tight)

nice, cheap/free hack. works best with a k&n or atleast a new paper filter.
