Washing/Waxing ?

Washing/Waxing ?
So, it's supposed to be really nice this weekend here in Northern VA and I decided to wash/wax my car this weekend since it's been a long-ass time.
Anyways, I've never really waxed a car myself and was wondering what I should use and how to get the best results by hand. I just picked up Meguiar's Color X since my Milano Red paint is starting to fade on the trunk, hood etc. and I've heard good stuff about it. I also picked up the Mequiar's Gold Class car wash since it was on sale.
Here's what steps I was thinking of doing:
1. Wash car with Dial to remove any wax/polish.
2. Wash car with Meguiar's Gold Class car wash.
3. Dry car.
4. Apply Meguiar's Color X to car and wait 20 min.(what should I apply the wax with?)
5. Buff wax off and take her for a spin.
Does this sound right, did I miss anything, any suggestions?
