Convertable CRX

I was coming home today from work and i saw this convertable CRX. I never know that honda made these. Was this a rare option or just a custom job?? Here are some pics.

Honda never made CRX 'verts. The only thing close was a dealer out in California that contracted a company to convert a few first gen cars and sold them from their showroom, I don't recall how many though.

Most are complete hackjob conversions.

It looks like a custom job.
They never made them, why would you want to compromise the rigidity or a nice handling sporty car for something dumb like a convertable.

All year CRX's never had a convertible. Personally i think it makes the CRX look like a damn GEO when it's gone thru that nasty conversion. i've also seen it done on the 2nd gen rex and i think it's horrible not to mention asking yourself the main question of "y?" but one thing i have seen that doesn't look too bad is a sports top on a crx like how the 93-97 Supras were available with.

I think they look more like a Cabriolet.

I want a cabriolet, they're fun little cars even though they look like a cheerleader's car.

yes u could get one from the dealer, special order. a company in costa mesa california did the work, the R. Straman company, less then 50 were done. straman was a very well known custom car, for high line cars. i have actually seen one of these, and his company did a very nice job!!

Straman CRX Convertible

I just bought a 1987 Convertible CRX SI. The car was driven off the dealer's lot and the next day dropped off at Richard Straman's shop. The car is fabulous to drive and gets a million looks.

Straman's convertibles are incredible looking cars. He did 310 CRXs, at the end the cost for the conversion was $5995 US. He also did Rolls Royces, Ferraris, Mercedes, Nissan 300ZXs and Cadillacs. My car was in great company as the work was being done, next to it was a 4 door Rolls being converted to a 2 door convertible.

I will upload a picture of this very cool car soon.
