Default Coolant leak and overheating

I have been battling this leak for about a month now. Originally the car would overheat and blow coolant out the overflow. I replaced the radiator cap and it seemed to help the problem. I was still losing a small amount of coolant after that until today. As I was driving down my street and into the driveway I heard the fans kick on and looked down to see the needle on hot. It left a nice stream of coolant all down the driveway and in the garage. I opened the hood and it looks like it is leaking at the lower radiator hose near the thermostat. I took the hose off and did not see holes or cracks. I removed the thermostat and tried boiling it to see if it would open and it doesnt see to be doing anything. Would a bad thermostat pressurize the system and force coolant out at that location? Any other ideas before I check if it might be a head gasket.

car has 135000 miles on it and is a 03 cl type s.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian
