It really depends, and I don't think there is a definite way to tell. Because depending on if your vehicle is pointing uphill or downhill, and each sensor might be different than each other. The best thing to do is test it for yourself. Just look at the needle. If it touches empty, go get gas. I never let the gas light bother me.
