help!! how to disable factory alarm system

Hi guys,

My friend has a 97 Acura TL3.2. Somhow the factory alarm cannot be disarmed, ie no matter how you press the remote control(s), the alarm doesn't react. He did change the battery on the remote control but didn't help. To me it looks like the problem is on the alarm module inside the car. He can still use the key to open the door locks (sure it activates the siren) but he can't start the engine.

Does anyone know:
(1) how to deactivate the siren?
(2) how to bypass the alarm and start the engine?

Thanks

If he has a factory alarm, the siren are the horns. He can either pull out the fuse for the horns or just disconnect them. However, if he cannot start his car because he cannot disarm it, I have no idea. Has your friend taken it back to the dealership to see if he can get a replaced?

Not sure if my friend's alram is connected to the horn or not.

The problem is the car cannot be started with the armed alarm. Look like he needs to get someone to tow his TL back to the dealer for repair. Thanks for the comments anyway.

Call a Alarms Stereo place.

This happened to me last week, Alarm would not disarm with the Key in door lock..
I called a Stereo / Alarm shop in the area , and they faxed over a
sheet with all the wiring Codes and locations .
So I found the Security module and Ground out the correct wire for a second and the system disarmed...
Good luck , Just give your local stereo shop a call first,
The Dealer want the car towed in and replace both door acuators in my case ...
Most Car makers have back-up ways to disarm their systems..
