hey everyone, i'm steve. i don't have any formal training, but i love working on my own car. i have done a couple simple systems in my 98 civic, but my stuff keeps getting stolen. twice i have installed a pair of 10s and an amp, nothing fancy, but enough noise for me. before i do anything else i am gonna have to get a security system, i do admit it was pretty dumb not to get one first. but you live and learn.

My name is Gary and I just bought a 2007 MDX. Black on black, fully loaded with 20" Zinik's. So far, this is the best car i have ever owned. I live in So Cal. I posted a thread on Audio & Security regarding the NAV system being converted to play DVD's, but haven't had a response yet. I think the car is too new. Talk more soon.

Well my name is Paul I drive a 2000 Civic Ex and I will be installing my first system in Tuesday I have the deck installed now but I will be adding components, rears, and an amp.
I have an old sub setup from like three years ago I will be throwing in also till I find out what direction I want to go with the trunk. I am just starting to get into mobile video and I am loving it so far!
Before this system I was was your typical Boom head but I never replaced any stock speakers so the car was not balanced at all. My old car was a 97 Ford Probe.
2000 Civic EX:
Mods: I/H/E, STS, 6 puck (overkill) coilovers, 17in RH C5 rims, BW body kit

My name is Matt and I'm from Pittsburgh, PA. I drive a '97 Civic EX Sedan, completely stock save for an 8-ball shift knob and a pair of $20 walmart fog lights. Previously I drove a '99 Ford Escort LS until the engine burned up march 2006 (out of anti-freeze w/ no warning light). I'm an applied physics major at IUP and i've taken a couple electronics classes. I've never been into modding much and the most experience I have is installing a new head unit on my last car and the p.o.s. fogs on this one. I'm just starting to toy with it and currently having a fun time trying to figure out how to get my OEM keyless entry and alarm to work with an aftermarket head unit.
I was previously a Computer Science major so I could probably answer some computer questions if anyone has them, but other than that I'm on the forums to learn learn learn. I've always loved tinkering with stuff and my car seems as good a choice as anything else to tinker with.

The name is Zakk, I'm 23, I work @ Guitar Center in Oakdale, I know very little about car audio, this is why i am here. I bought a 95 Integra RS about a week ago, just put an Alpine CDE-9870 HU in, my pops gave me a pair of MB Quart 6 1/2s that have yet to be installed, and I have an old Bazooka Tube Sub ( i know its crap, but i would rather spend my money on things that actually make my car go FASTER) that i need to install as well. Any help with replacement of my front speaks would be appreciated!

hey everybody, im alex. I got a 93 prelude, its all stock for now but I got a pretty good system. I got an alpine IVA-D900 dvd player, all around Alpine type R speakers and a DIN size center speaker, also alpine, all hooked up to an Alpine MRA-F350 5 channel theater amplifier.
im not really into the bass but more into the clearness and cleanliness of the sound. and with 5.1 digital surround sound you cant go wrong.
pretty soon im hoping to start working on the outside of the car, since the inside is as good as it can get at the time being.

Question about car audio speakers!!
I have a '03 RSX. I also have a Pioneer Inno with XM Sattelite Radio, Pioneer Premier w/ the oel display. 4 6 1/2" Pioneer speakers. The reason why I'm here. My back 2 speakers the right side that one is blown the left side is pretty close to being blown. Since it only took them 3 years to go I want to go with another brand. Is Infinity a good brand to get? How long do they last? My husband has Infinitys in his 01 Prelude. They sound good better than the pioneers!!
Thanks for your help.

Feel Right at Home
Hey All,
Just got my first Honda - 2005 Accord EX. I've had maybe 15 or so cars over the years - put my first stereo in a 1972 Dodge Charger (Pioneer Supertuner cassette, some generic amp and Cricket Speakers). have an electrical engineering degree from Penn State but please don't hold that against me :-) I play guitar so I tend to focus on more full range sound and not really big into subwoofers/uber-bass (although I did take a kenwood powered bass out of my last vehicle to put in my accord).
Thanks for everyone's time here helping others. I have learned a few things already and hopefully i can contribute also.

i currently have a 2000 civic. I've had my system stolen a few times, so i'm ok with installs with 1999-2000 civic's, and I've become decent at upgrading security. I learned from friends who were installers at audio express, so i'm not the best or the worst by any standards.

Hello Everyone. I am Travis. I have been doing car audio installs and sales now for going on 10 years. I am very knowledgeable on system designing and also product compatibility as well. The car audio industry is constantly changing, the product changes and the cars change. It makes me stay on my toes to keep up with the industry changes. Looking forward to being here for some questions that you may have and hopefully it helps you build the system you are wanting.

My car is a 1996 honda civic coupe EX, EK chassis
My audio experience is only at diy level. I got interested in car audio when i was 15 now im 30. I never really had a bad-azz system ever in my life, but my first setup 14years ago was an alpine cd player, a rockford F punch 60, and two JL audio 15w1's. It was bass heavy, that was in my first honda civic, which was a 1988 honda civic HB, i had diy'd a box that went into the spare tire well for extra enclosure volume and got the min vol for sealed apps. That hit hard, my friends heards me from blocks away, thats what they told me anyway, lol.
My Current setup is a little quieter, but now Im going for sound quality pretty much. I have a single 8"RF punch sub mounting under the floor board behind my spare in my EK, i cut a hole for the sub to fire out of in the masonite floor and carpet, i need a grill guard to protect the woofer still. I driving that with an Eclipse 4 channel amp, 2 channels bridged to the sub and the other two channels drive the front and rear speakers in a series for both left and right.
I set my gains using my multimeter so i dont over drive my amp, so things sound pretty clean right now, but i might turn the gains up a little more to get a little more volume sooner or later.
My head unit is a Kenwood kdc something, but it has a USB port which kicks ass. My fronts and rear speakers are stock for now, but with the amp highpassed like it is, everything sounds pretty good with minimal distortion.
My setup is kinda ghetto at the moment but everything is pretty clean.

Boats n hoes
Hey, Trevor here. I have been doing car audio for several years, including installing, troubleshooting, and selling, and enjoying.
Right now I have a 98 Civic LX that I basically built myself (or rebuilt). I had a 93 Ford Taurus which had 2 12" Audiobahn subs, powered by two 1600 watt amps, JBL highs and mid, and a Pioneer head. In my Civic I'm a little more constrained for space, so I have an Infinity Basslink 2, 6 Infinity Reference speakers for high and mid, and a Panasonic head.
I'm big into audio DIY, things like wiring my own crossovers and making my own tweeter pods and sub boxs.
I also owned a small local Computer Repair company for several years, so I'm good with computers/can help.

Hi all!
Name: Chris, Christian, D,
Location: MD Ride: 5th gen CE1
System:I've got a P2 in a custom box with Crunch multi-channel amp which still needs to be connected to my component speakers
Future mods: I also want to get some oem tweeter casings to install upgraded tweeters. The Mrz gave the:thumbsup: for swap. What I bring is DIY'er skills and some basic knowledge. I like doing DIY's except fuel filters and advanced stuff that requires torque wrenches like the lower spark plug seals although they seem simple to do
