02 in dash 6 cd changer

I have been searching for 2 days unluckily. I am new to site and am sure this has been posted probably many times, so sorry for another post.

2 days ago between swtiching cds i got an err message. a couple of hours later, one cd ejected when i turned the car on. The next day the same thing, one cd ejected. after that I do not hear anything at all. when i push the cd button, it reads "cd" only, no cd #, then in a few seconds it reads err.

How is this fixed w/out the dealer?

as simple as disconnecting the battery, but then i will need the security code. Thier is a tag stapled to my warranty manual with four digits on it, could that be the sec code?

Or do i have to remove the hu? Where can i find directions to do that?
