Default Shift Lock release not working 2005 Accord

I have a 2005 Honda Accord. I noticed check engine light a couple of days ago and the light disappeared after I stopped and restarted the car.
After 2 days I parked my car in a shopping store parking lot and found that the great had stuck in parking mode. It would not come out even if I press the release button along with the brakes. I fond the key trick in the manual and got it release and came home. But the problem is it is still not working as it is supposed to. Eveytime I have to use the key trick to release the lock. Please suggest me what is wrong with this 2005 accord LX. The car never gave me any issues.

Thank You
Kevin K

It is probably a failed brake switch.

Funny the same thing happen to a brand new GL Class on a parking lot, the ebrake was stuck and the guy from MB end up cutting the cable and a bunch of crap. The owner was soooo pisss off.

Fuse -- I checked all the 3 brake lights are working. But I don't hear clicking sound when I press the brake and press the shift lock release button. I spoke to Honda Service the guy suspects that its a switch in the steering wheel handle and gave me an estimate of $299.

Is there any document available though which I can troubleshoot this and replace it?

Thank You
Kevin
