92 Honda accord quit going down the interstate.

    Hi,
I was driving my 92 Honda Accord down the interstate and it just quit. Like somebody turned the key off. I replaced the "Main Relay" under the dash. No luck. I can smell raw fuel when I crank it. The rotor looked good. Anybody have any ideas?

"Like somebody turned the key off."
My first guess is a flaky ignition switch. Can you make it happen again by wiggling the key? (Maybe not in heavy traffic...)

Sounds like your coil crapped out.

Yeah, sounds more like coil or ignitor, rather than ignition switch. Let us know what the spark looks like.

Ignitor is slang for the Ignition Control Module in the distributor.

seem like it's your fuel cut off relay, which is allocated inside the car on the driver side just above the fuse box. Its size of match box.

Fuel cutoff relay? Sounds like you mean the main relay, which he already replaced.

    +1

Not hard to check, just need the resistance specs for that model/year and a volt/ohm meter.

The secondary coil can short to ground under the high voltages it produces, while still measuring OK with a 'normal' meter.

So... If it fails the resistance check you KNOW it's bad. If it passes the resistance check, that doesn't REALLY prove it's good.

650Superjet hasnt posted for a month now...

A bad ignition switch would not produce the smell of gasoline. Sounds like lack of spark, which could be ignitor, coil, rotor, cap, etc...
