Definitely 6.5"
The rears, however, will vary from car to car. Some 5th gens are 6.5" all around, some have 6x9" in the back. I'm not even sure if there is rhyme or reason to it depending on year or DX/LX, etc. If you are changing the rears too, make sure you open the trunk and look before buying new ones.
BTW, am I correct in assuming the 7th gen has 6.5" up front too?

yes, 6 1/2" for the fronts in the 96 accord. The rears were trim dependant, DX, LX and SE having 6 1/2" in the rear, EX having 6x9.
Similar situation with 90-93 accords, but the EX and SE models had 5" up front (not 5 1/4")

Nope, my '96 LX had stock 6x9's in the back. See what I mean?
Granted, I was not the first owner, and the car did have a couple of aftermarket bits (moon roof, paint), but the holes in the deck were for 6x9, and they did not appear to be aftermarket speakers.
Now, I suppose it is possible that the 6.5" brackets were simply removed, and the stock speakers were replaced with stock 6x9s from an EX. I would absolutely buy that. However, I did ask a "car audio specialist" (i.e. some shlub in a blue shirt), and he actually did say that a '96 LX might have either/or.
