Thinking about getting and 02 Accord Coupe
I currently own a 01 Prelude now, but I am about to have to replace the auto tensioner in it for the 2nd time in a year. It is a known problem with these cars. I really want an 02 Accord V6 coupe that I can get for $14,500 with 57,000 miles on it.
I know about Honda transmission problems, because my prelude got the extended warranty. I know that the Accord v6 trannys have been know to have problems too. I also noticed that the extended warranty only goes up to the 01 Accord.
My question is,
Does this mean that they have fixed the problems with the 02 trannys?
Please give me some suggestions about this car.
Thanks!

Relevance is irrelevant
I like the Prelude better than the Accord

Me too, but if you had to spend a couple thousand a year to keep it running you might change your mind.

I have an 02 accord and dont have any problems with it.......THe tranny problems were specific to the v6 models only.

If I were in your position I would get something else. I'm actually a little tired of my 00 accord v6 coupe and I made a mistake in buying it. I've had no problems with it, I just want a better/more fun of a car. You also have the tranny problem risk even though I've heard it's a big "over hyped" problem. I've had no problem with my tranny but I'm only at 60k miles. I drive it really bad though, hasnt changed one bit in the year and a h alf I've owned it.

Personally, I would keep the lude, or get a different car. I wouldnt get an AV6 unless its an 03+. If your gonna spend $15k why not consider a used Acura TL or CL.
