Check Engine Light
The check engine light came on today on my '95 Accord EX V6. For quiet awhile now I've have had the dancing tach. From what I've heard, what's causing the tach to jump up and down is the distributer going bad. And now since the light came on, I've noticed the car is surging alittle and the tach is jump more frequently. Would the distributer going on the fritz cause the check engine light to come on, or could I have a more serious problem. I'm gonna have it looked at. I just thought I'd check to see what fellow accord owners had to say.

tach being stupid is useually the igniter (which is in the distributer) .. rarely (if ever) have i seen it trigger a check engine light.
i would jump the test plug and read the code.. you will know more then
fix that igniter soon or you will find yourself calling a tow truck. its an easy repair to do yourself.
i'd say your check engine and tach/surging problem are seperate issues.. have you just tried clearing the code (taking battery off for 10-15 mins) ??? PS make sure you have your radios security code (if you have the stock radio) before yanking the power.
