1999 Honda Civic LX exhaust repair questions
Over the weekend the b pipe broke. Previously, where the muffler connects broke and when in a bind for time, work, and money I decided to have it welded at a custom shop. So now with a broken b pipe my usual honda specific shop told me they'd need to replace everything from the b pipe back. Said it would be a $500 job.
Is $500 reasonable? Would it be sensible to just do another fab/weld job here too? What I'm thinking is that if I have another problem with the b pipe later, it's not going to make it a more expensive repair anymore (as welding the muffler has done now), right? Is there any other options I should be considering? Plus, if I have to pay $500 it's going on an already heavy credit card.

Wow that's alot of money. For that just buy a new aftermarket exhaust.
Once an exhaust breaks/leaks it's never as strong as it was when it was new even after a weld. Most shops don't clean the area right when re-welding and the oxidation/rust makes the metal weak.
