Default ODB1 to ODB2?

Ok well let me try to explain whats happening. After looking around online for an engine i finally found one. It is a JDM B18C which is ODB1. My car that it is being put in is ODB2. I heard that all you would need is a harness to convert it from ODB1 to ODB2 so i ordered the engine and had it sent to raceredi performance. Well now all the sudden they are saying there is no way possible to put an ODB1 engine in an ODB2 car, they said they have asked around and say that everyone has said you just cant do it. From my understanding i just thought it was goign to involve some extra wiriing. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or is there is a harness that i can get somewhere so they can still do the swap. I swear the guy where i got the engine said i could do this so if i can im sending all the **** back and im not paying for ****. Well any help on this subject would be much appreciated. Thanks.

they got their head stuck in their asses.

all you do is take your harness and modify the hell out of it.
then you get and obd2-obd1 adapter harness for the ecu.

i just finished building a harness for a 97 civic dx to run an obd1 b18b in it. it is a pain, cause you have to change out about 10 plugs and relocate a few things, but it is not impossible at all.

If you don't have to smog....

Get OBDI ecu. OBDI Pigtails (or OBDII to OBDI kit) and start hacking.

maybe they are saying that because they think you want to keep the OBDI. if your car has OBDII you cant change it to OBDI (because of federal law, not because it can't be done)

Its OBD not ODB

OBD == On Board Diagnostics

its not a kit....one thing to do is use an adapter that will allow the use of an obd1 ecu, but in some cases you have to rewire, specially if you are putting in the obd1 engine as well....converting is a combo of injectors, distributor and sensors so the ecu will work right with the engine.

Ok im not trying to sound dumb but i have to try to explain this to the shop. So what all needs to bought or done to make it legal(cause before someone said it was against the law to convert my car to ODB1) to convert the engine to ODB2so that all the gauges and all that good stuff work. Thanks.

to make the engine obd2 you will need to add at least teh CKF sensor, as wel as possibly changing several other sensors...not sure about the rest....obviously an obd2 ecu.

i really dont think the shop knows what they are doing though...
