honda confusion...

a friend of mine has a 99 civic vp 1.6,and it will start right up,only after he lets it sit for about 15-20 min...if he jumps out and right back in it will just keep crainking, it will not start, so i thought it might be the fuel filter, because he has 105,000 mi and has never changed hit filter..but he still has the problem...im a legend man myself i have never touched a 99 civic ...any ideas????

what does the cranking sound like? It could be a bad dizzy. I had this problem when my head gasket was blown but thats a little extreme right now.

pull an ejector out and crank the engine to see if it's getting fuel from the pump once it's hot. Sometimes when a fuel pump is going bad it starts out by failing to start when it's hot.

Distributor? Fouled plugs?

Yes main relay needs to be re-solder or replaced.
