Default Si sway bar and Beaks kit?

I know a common mod around here is to put an ITR sway bar on your Civic. Since the bar is kind of thick, most people who do this mod get a beaks kit to provide reinforcement so they don't tear their subframe. My question is: I'm looking to put a stock '99-'00 Si complete rear swaybar (13mm) setup on my '98 LX. Will I need a beaks kit or is that bar not thick enough to warrant having to buy a beaks kit? Also, anyone who put an Si rear sway (in combination with the stock 22mm front one) have comments on how the car handles with this setup? Is the addition of the sway bar noticable?

I dont think you'll need the kit for the 13mm bar, but it wouldnt hurt. I actually know someone who did tear out the subframe from one though.

Would that happen on an Si from the factory? Could they tear their subframe? I was just curious, because the average motorist wouldn't know what a swaybar was if you smacked them in the forehead with it, so obviously they wouldn't think about reinforcing a swaybar if it came stock on the car. Could that happen?

You shouldn't have to. It probably was an option for your car. On the 92-95 4 door with rear disk, it came with a rear sway.

it wasn't an option, but everything is all set up for it. I believe Lxs and Exs have the same LCAs as Sis. I already have all the holes and everything needed to mount them already there, no drilling required.

I don't think you can even use the kit with the SI sway bar since it probably mounts differently than an ITR bar. I doubt you'll have any problems at all with tearout using a 13mm bar.
