Basically

Acura = American Honda

Acura sells the luxury stuff like the CL, TL, RL, NSX, RSX, MDX, etc.

While Honda sells the econo-cars like the Civic, Accord, CR-V, etc.

Acura is the luxury division of Honda for the North Americans. In order to "please" the consumers of the North Americans Honda as well as Nissan (Infinity) and Toyota (Lexus) divided their lineup of cars so that they can feel better about themselves for paying over $30,000 for an "Acura" instead of a "Honda".

Honda to Americans began as a "econo" car type corporation with their early model Accord, Civic and Prelude. Small engines, gas saving, and cheap. So in 1987 when Acura debuted with the Integra and Legend, they felt that Americans wouldnt pay over $25-30k for a Honda, so they started a "luxury" division and rebadged it to Acura.

Acura = Honda. To everyone else it is a Honda NSX, Honda Inspire/Saber, Honda Legend, Honda Integra. To the North Americans, it is Acura NSX, Acura TL, Acura RL, Acura RSX.

It's like people think they are different companies, which is true here in the US.

Lexus=Toyota
Infinity=Nissan
Acura=Honda
Audi=VW

similar in design, but not the same. You wont find a Volkswagen S4 like you will find a Honda NSX.

yes b/c the IS300 is a rebadged Altezza just like the RSX is a rebadge Integra. In Japan, the Toyota IS300 is a V6 like ours...while the Toyota Altezza RS200/300 is a turbocharged I-4.

I also know the amount of Porshe/Audi dealers and Mazda/Nissan dealers. That doesnt make a Porshe an Audi, nor a Mazda a Nissan.

KEYWORD: They LOOK similar.

The Civic Coupe LOOKs like the Ford Focus.

The Lexus GS400 LOOKs like a Mercedes E class.

The Jaguar X-J8 looks like an Aston Marton DB7.

Prove me wrong by finding me a Volkswagen A4/S4 anywhere in the world.

VW and Audi are tied together, but not the same company. They use some of the same chasis, engines, parts, etc., but they are not the same company.....its kind of like a partnership. Kind of like Ford and Mazda or Mitsubishi and Chrysler

yes... Audi is owned by VW just as Mazda is owned by Ford. But they are different corporations. Not the same relationship as Acura is to Honda.

The 1.8T is shared by both the Jetta/Golf and Audi A4, just as the Ford Probe shares the same stuff with the Mazda MX-6. Same parts, different cars, different corporation.

I know the current Intrepid shares the same interior as the current Eclipse.

They all own each other and recycle parts.
