Default valve cover?

is it true that if you have a cut valve cover you wont pass the visual inspection of the smog test?

here in cali, smog shops can be dicks like that and see if ur valve cover is cut and that u have adjustable cam gears, u will not pass visual even if it is set to 0 degrees. thats what happen to me. but magical things happen when u know ppl who work for smog shops.

Damn.....I hate the whole race scene down here in S.C. (Dirty South) if there is one lol, but at least we dont have those smog tests. From what I've read it sounds like ya'll go though hell with those things.

the reason why they have to cut the valve cover is because they have a dohc which the vavle cover covers half of the cam gears.
