HELP! 5th gen EX won't start!
Whats up - I haven't posted in a while, got rid of broadband and I'm back on dial-up for a while, it kinda makes me want to cry, so I don't go on the net as much anymore...
ANYWAYS:
When I crank my car, it turns over but won't start. Then when I stop cranking and let go of the key, I can hear a pop from the intake. I took it to Honda, and they told me the timing was off. So I had them fix it, and guess what? Still doesn't start. Have any of you heard of anything like that? After I've been cranking for a while, I can smell gas under the hood, so I know it's getting fuel, just no spark. What do you think it is? Ignitor? I know the plugs aren't fouled out, so that's out of the question. What else could it be? Any ideas please help! Thanks in advance...

It could be anything with the dist... Not a fun problem to search out. Start by swapping the ignitor with a friend's. Almost all Honda ignitors are the same. Other than that, the cap and rotor in good shape? Wires all secure?

wait a second, so when they "fixed" it, did it start? or did you just roll it back home?

well, same gen. replace it and see what happens. if it won't turn over, no need keep trying it and flood it (what i did )
www.thepartsbin.com has 'em cheap. maybe replace the cap and rotor while you are at it... they aren't expensive.

so what's the difference between the coil and the ignitor? people are telling me the ignitor is bad. what are the functions of either part?
