Thread: Engine Swap Q

    Engine Swap Q

    First, b16a2 = '99-'00 Si engine, correct?

Second, with a b16a2 swap and greddy turbo in my '96 ex coupe, what is max boost that can be run with stock internals and how much power would that be?

What about stock boost on the b16a2, it should be around 200whp right?

If the B16A2 you're gettign is USDM, then yes, that would be out of the 99-00 Si. Generally, you can run up to 14-15lbs of boost on stock B series internals, provided your tuning is up to the task. How much power that puts out would be entirely dependent on how well you are tuned. The same goes for a B16A2 running stock boost. You can find a dyno plot of an Si running stock boost on a GReddy kit here:

If I'm not mistaken, then the later Del Sol VTEC (maybe 96-97) had B16a2 as well.

    boost

and max boost would be about 12lbs tuned. 14-15 is too much and risky on stock internals.

What would be the highest safe boost to run for daily driving?

    boost

on 93+ octane, 8-9 pounds tuned is safe. you could bring it up to 12 on higher octane on track days. this also depends on what turbo you have. 10lbs on t3 isn't the same as 10lbs on a t3/t4. I think the max HP on a d-series would be around 210 hp.

no no no you're ALL WRONG

first off the b16a2 is ONLY from the 1999-2000 civic SI PERIOD
the del sol B16 motor is a B16A3
JDM motors do not have a number after the last letter....it's just B16A gen 1 (SIR 1) or B16A gen 2 (known as SIR2)

by the way if you need a 99-00 civic SI B16A2 i sell them with tranny, ecu, shift linkage, wiring harness, axle cores, the rear/side tranny mount for 2200 plus shipping.

I seriously doubt that you pulled a B16 out of a del sol VTEC and it read b16a2...although there is always a slight possiblity. Maybe someone hydrolocked the motor and put a Si motor in it.

The motors are B16A3 and the same motors as the A2's. Honda had a bunch of del sol vtec b16's sitting around after they were done making the SOL, they stamped the blocks A2 and slapped them in the SI's in 99-00
