Default Tire size for HX rims?

Okay, here's the deal...

I'm going to need new tires in a little while. I'll also be lowering my car on a set of HX rims (for the time being). So what tire size would work/look good? I'm probably going to lower the car about 2" or so...maybe a little less. I've seen a couple lowered hatchbacks on HX rims and they look really good, but I'm not sure what size tires they're running...

why would that be goofy? standard size is 185/60/14... but 185 is just too skinny

I dunno...I'm just having troubles seeing a 45 series 14" tire...that seems really low profile...Maybe that tire size isn't as small as I'm picturing it to be.

45 would be really low if the width remained at 185. thats why i said 195....195/45 is still pretty thin..but you get a wide patch and small overall diameter of wheel = traction + acceleration

Yeah, you're probably right...thanks for the help. I just want it to look good when I lower my car...then later on I'll be buying new rims & tires. But, I'm not gonna wait that long to drop the car.

What suspension setup are you using? Looks good...That pretty much looks like what I was talking about.

And so, I apologize for saying I thought that'd look goofy...I guess I'm not very good at picturing tire sizes.

Thansk again for your help (and yours too, DB7)

I'm running hx rims with 195/50/r15 falkend azenis. $50 a pop and they grip very well. if you are looking for a good and cheap tire/rim combo this is it.

www.vulcantire.com is where i buy'em from $50 a piece can't beat that price.
