Default Fight with Crank Pulley

Well i tried to get my crank pully off so i can change the timing belt, b/c i think that is what is causing my CEL light to come on, but ring not it is Me 0 Crank pulley 2 I broke a socket and a breaker bar. I was gonna to use a impact gun but my compressor couldn't handle it. I guess i will have to go to the hobby shop and use their tools

Hobby shop? Are you in the military?

What CEL are you throwing?

Oh, ok.. I'm in the Air Force.. not many people call it the 'Hobby Shop' that's why I asked.

That code sucks man... Before you go and start trying to get the belt off, I would check to see if it's still lined up correctly.

To do this:

Take off your valve cover
Take out your #1 spark plug
Rotate the crank to TDC where the #1 cylinder is at TDC
At EXACTLY TDC look at your cam and see if the arrow that reads "up" is in fact, up.
Also look at the marks on both sides of the cam and see if they line up with the ledge of the head.

If that's all right, I think your crank position sensor is bad. I don't think you have to take the whole thing apart to get that off.. although it may be behind your TB cover.. I don't remember.

Check the Engine Tech forum too, someone was just out there talking about this.

Good luck man!

What does your distributor have to do with the crank sensor?
