Default DIY advance timing on D16y8?

for those of you that done this mod... can you direct me to how to do it? any website on how to perform this? cuz i've found site for the B series engine... but is that same as the D series? and i only want to advance it by 2 degree... but how do i know exactly how many degree i've advanced it? and also... any difference after this mod?

do a search...we discussed this about a week ago...


you need a timing light/gun...to see what your advancing/retarding. all it does it make the spark XX degrees from TDC...(i think thats how you say it)

Your timing marks are 10, 12, 14, and TDC, but otherwise it's the same process.

thanks chris... good thing u told me... otherwise i'd be advancing it to 18... lol. but i still couldn't find the cluster of marking on my block... can you tell me where i can find it?

The timing marks are on the crank pulley. The pointer is on the block. Everytime the timing light flashes, it illuminates the the marks, which is when you line them up with the pointer on the block to set the timing.

when i checked my timing when i bought the car is was at 22degrees

12 degrees before TDC is the stock ignition timing on a D16Y8. D16Z6 stock timing may be different.
