Default Problem With RPM's.....

Hi.. I came on here to see if anyone could help me with this problem I have with my car?? I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX, Sometimes my RPM's jump either when I am stopped or moving, It feels like when I am stopped it wants to keep on going, and when I am driving it wants to kick over to another gear or something?? I have no idea what could be causing this.. If anyone has ANY information about this please post it that would be much appreciated!! Thank you everyone

what other things can you tell us, like what kind of modifications do you have? does this happen in all weather conditions and engine temperatures?

i was thinking maybe it only does it in extreme cold or hot temperatrues

hmmmmm dunno sounds like maybe your ecu is getting some funky readings, have you got all your wires, plugs, etc up to date.

Could be your tranny going as well. Check your fluids, also, is your check engine light on?

since it's an automatic... u might want to get the transmission fluid flushed... and have it inspected. i use to have a mazda 626lx, and it did that for the rpm.... as it turned out... transmission is shot. either that, or reset ur ECU and hopefully that will help out. not sure if ur car is modded or not, but it's worth a shot.

Um, actually, if you want to get technical, RPM stands for revolutions per minute. The "revolutions" is already plural and thus, you don't need to add an s to the end of RPM. Saying "RPMs" would be equivalent to saying "revolutions per minutes", which is neither correct, nor does it preserve the meaning of the acronym "RPM."
