More then likely yes if you have s and l.Another way to check is dose you trans shift at all.The cvt will just hold your engine at a steady rpm.

yep you have a cvt tranny, all hx's do. the tranny is what makes it the hybrid.
its some king of special tranny that can't be rebuilt. i have a 1997 hx and the tranny is going out. i am waiting until it does and then i am going to be doing a motor swap. let me guess you have a d16y5..

Yes I do have a D16Y5. So whats the deal on these CVT's? Ive heard alot of good and alot of horror stories. I have yet to sign the final paperwork on the car..Should I look for a non HX? This one has 112K on it and seems to drive just fine..However, I DO NOT want to sign a loan for the next 4 years and have to replace 4 trannys in that time..Cause it is not under warranty. Are they as bad as people make them out to be?

i would try and find one that isn't an HX, like i said befor ei own one. its not a bad car. it was built for economy and that it is. i get almost 37 miles to the gallon. the down fall is the motor isn't built for any kind of performance. the other downfall is the tranny can't be rebuilt. honda doesn't make a replacement cvt tranny for 2000 or older HX's. so that means you would have to buy a used one, keeping in mind that they can't be rebuilt there is no telling how long the used one will last. im about to rip out that motor and tranny and swap ot with a b18b1 and like tranny. i am also changing it to a manual from auto. so my advice is find another car unless you plan to do a swap. let me know if this helps....

I'd try and find a non HX auto. Try and find a 5spd Civic if you plan on modding it.
