Default Transmission axle seal question

The seal that is in the transmission where the driver side axle goes into is cracked. Its just a very fine piece of rubber nothing much. I don't exactly know if by trying to grab it and take it out by force is ok since I've never done it but, is this the correct procedure?

its ok, just remember do not scratch the transmission, if u do apply the new one with sillicone around the mating surface of the tranny/seal not seal/axle./

Yes. you have to use a tool to get behind the seal and pull it out. You can destroy the seal, that is ok. But, don't scratch the transmission. If the scratch is bad enough you will have a permanent leak.

I always used to in the ol school days run a screw in the soft prt and then pull it from the screw, I would just manhandle it and make it come out.

I did it with a flathead, took it out, went to honda to buy the new one and put it in. ALl is well now.
