SRS Airbags
...it sucks to have to be asking this question, but anyone know if the engine is shutoff automatically after the SRS airbage go off? I have a 96 EX and got hit and both driverside and passanger side airbags went off and the car wouldnt start. Just wondering if there is an emergency fuel shutoff and if something simple like disconnecting the battery to clear the computer wowuld help anything or if it might be something else. (The engine turns over fine and the electrical system is working normally.) thanks guys

Airbag control unit gets damaged after airbags deploy. I bought a civic 96 with damaged SRS unit but replaced airbags. Engine was working fine.

there were (2) blown fuses, one was the SRS fuse for the airbags and the other one was the fuse for the fuel pump, (triggered by the SRS system). So I guess there is no emergency shutoff, it just blows the fuse so the fuel pump doenst get any electricity.
