What Next?
Hello,
I have a 99 Civic EX with the soch engine I believe. I have installed so far a DC header, aem cold air induction, cat back exhaust. Next I plan on a new intake manifold.
I realize so far that I am getting very minor gains, will the new intake be noticeable? or will I have to go internal, I was thinking of a cam and cam gear. I would just like to get more power in the 3000 to 6000 range.
Am I expecting too much by wanting to get to 160 hp with the soch engine?
Thank You.

you will notice more of a gain if you turbo or supercharge it. you will notice gains with a cam and cam gear, but they wont be too dramatic.

All those bolt ons are a waste of money if you want to"feel" something. Forced induction is the way to go.
To go from the stock 125hp to 160hp (at the crank) you need some serious work. Especially on a SOHC.
Header - 5hp max
Exhaust - 5hp max
Intake - 5hp max
cam gears - 5-10hp max?
cam shaft - 10-15hp
Supercharger - 30-50hp
Turbo 1-really anything your engine can handle
Lightening the car also does wonders. Lighter wheels can take off parastic drag. For every 1lb of rotational mass you remove it's like removing 9lbs static body weight. So going from a 20lb wheel to a 14lb wheel (aka Kosei K1) that's 6lbs per corner=24lbs total. 24lbs*9=216lbs you effectively removed from the body of the car.

Turbo will definitely be your most increase in power. If you are not looking to go this hardcore, the bolts will help as well but as everyon has said will not be nearly as dramatic of an increase. PM me with questions or product inquiries. We can help you out with the bolt ons or a turbo if you so desire.
We have been around for a while but new to HAN.

Definitely turbo if you want to get some good gains and have a good platform to improve on in the future.
There are a couple of people on turbod16.com that have daily driven 300whp sohc civics.

Thanks for replies so far.
Yeah I will definately get some new wheels and tires, Right now I have got stock wheels and firestone tires that really suck!! I get a lot of wheel hop and they are terrible in the rain, but they will have to do untill spring.

That is why I joined this community because I dont know everything like some people. And not knowing everything and this being the first board I have ever joined maybe I didn't know it was proper procedure to look all over the place for the answer before I dare ask a question.

And just to save you money, I wouldnt waste money on an intake manfold.
You won't see very much gainwise, and if you actually want to make the SOHC in your car move decently, then as everyone has said before me, I suggest f/i of some sort.
