Default AEM CAI and the car loves 85 mph.

I've got an AEM CAI (V1) on my 97 EX (stock SOHC) and my car loves 80-90 mph. I barely have to touch my gas pedal to maintain the speed and acceleration from this point is pretty low effort (compared to the 30-60 range).

Are you guys getting similar results?

When my car was N/A and I had an AEM CAI, it didn't give me any more power just a lot of noise.

:werd: once the intake pipe heated up from the heat of the engine, the only thing that was different was that it didnt whistle when i shifted

good old placebo. Im sure you did gain a bit of performance but an intake generally isnt even noticeable to the driver (besides the sound).

I'm not talking about big power.

I'm talking about the very real difference in how far I have to push the pedal to maintain 90mph compared to before... doing the same commute.

So, to spell it out, I'm specifically saying there's a band of positive improvement at around the 4-4.5k rpm mark which becomes more obvious in 5th gear at the corresponding speed... which happens to coincide with dyno results from AEM CAI tests from various places (AEM, magazines, etc). The rest of the power band is hardly noticeable as improvement goes. In fact, I feel like it might be more boggy down in the 2k-3k rpm level. Yes, butt dyno. But that also coincides with the forementioned dynos.
