Will a 49-state cat work in a 98 HX CA spec?
Hello,
Long time lurker here...
I have a '98 HX with a cracked exhaust manifold (manifold with the integrated cat), ECU part number is 37820-P2N-L31. I do not live in CA anymore so CA compliance should not be an issue (I moved to Europe several years ago).
I can source a Dorman manifold, federal compliant, for a good price. The question is will it work with my ECU? Would the secondary 02 sensor, reading a somewhat different 02 level, throw a CEL?
Cheers.

Contact California bureau of automotive repair.
I think, 49-state vs. California catalytic converters only differ on how extensive the certification process is.
Take care,
ChrisS
