the point that vtec can shut off and no type of forced induction outside manual input (turning down boost manually or not engaging NO2) can do such a thing is a benefit that only variable valve timing enhanced engines have

I guess we agreed on the final answer. About VTEC burning oil, I said that you have to drive it agressively for a long period of time to do that. I have a GS-R and my 4th piston ring is on its way out. It seems like that's one of the most common problem w/ GS-R engine, interm of the internal. The rest is still perfect. The oil consumption when driven hard is a known fact and there's really nothing you can do about it.
