Default Honda issues TSB 08-020 April 12, 2008 3RD GEAR Issue Fix

Hi all,

I am happy to say that my local Honda dealership couldn't duplicate my 3rd gear issues, but thanks to this TSB release on 04/12/08, they are going ahead and applying this fix anyways. =)

I've posted this in the other forum area, and it can be found on other sites as well. I thought that this may be a good sticky, if not, I thought maybe a new thread with the Technical Service Bulletin at the top page would help for those wanting a quick view of it.

I have posted the link of the PDF file for TSB 08-020 on my personal web site:

A08-020.pdf

Here are some specifics from that TSB that will interest you:

Transmission Grinds When Shifting Into 3rd Gear, Pops Out of 3rd Gear, or
Is Hard to Shift Into 3rd Gear

SYMPTOM
The 6-speed manual transmission grinds when shifting
into 3rd gear, pops out of 3rd gear, or is hard to shift
into 3rd gear.

NOTE: These symptoms can be intermittent and
sometimes more noticeable in colder climates.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The transmission has a faulty 3rd gear synchronizer or
3-4 shift sleeve.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the 3rd gear set.

VEHICLES AFFECTED
2003–07 Accord V6 with M/T: ALL
2008 Accord V6 with M/T 2-Door: From VIN 1HGCS218.8A000001 thru 1HGCS218.8A003478

I hope this information helps everyone. =)

Yeah, I saw this on 8thcivic yesterday. I'll hopefully be taking my car in within the next couple weeks to get this taken care of.

I was the first to bring a car in to my dealership regarding this TSB. Still waiting on parts...Apparently some of the necessary items are backordered now.

Yeah, at least 2 more people on 8th saw my posting about how Pacific Honda will fix it in San Diego and went in after me. I guess the timing was off, as my service advisor told me she said the parts are now back ordered after mine came in. I do hope they get theirs fixed soon.

Still loving my 3rd gear though.

It's a good thing that there is a similar TSB from Acura.

So this VIN would not be affected? 2HGFG21598H704010?
